Pioneering Laos
My Dear All,
Must have a wee chat with you today as the time is moving along, and I need to tell you what is planned for next year for me.
Straight after our Chiangmai convention on the 8th Jan 2008, I will leave for Laos where I will meet Melissa Kundz and we will start to pioneer that land [LAOS] for the gospel.
Melissa has had this laid on her heart for a few years now and the time has come that the door has opened to an opportunity for her to go in there and I have been asked to go with her for a few months until my home visit. We are very grateful the two brothers will accompany us in there to see we have a suitable camp and get set up.
What a privilege to go again and carry the gospel story to that land. Of course, we go in without any contacts there, so it's by faith we go in the Living God and just want to trust Him for our every move.
Pray for wisdom to be wise in such a setting. You will all understand it is a communist land and so we will be moving very carefully. So ask you to please not send me any notes or meeting notes even photos of friends and workers so as to keep us and the gospel story safe.
So after the end of the year, please remember where we are and be wise in writing emails to us not using the language of meetings, etc. Just short emails will be appreciated as we will not have time to be doing many emails. As for snail mail, the same please, as these letters will not be posted in but carried in to us maybe every few months. So don't be disappointed if you don't hear from me for awhile, as I can't post letters out to you either. Just being careful as we don't really know what to expect as it's all so new to us too and we don't know what awaits us.
We will start in the capital city [Vientiane] that is on the Thailand border on the Mekong River, so I can possibly use my Thai language there being a border town. Melissa expects to be studying full time in the language.
So after the 8th January, please remember where we are!!! NOT in Thailand where there's so much freedom. Thank you for this. I'm so glad that "love has planned the way," and it's all in His mighty hand our future there. We don't know if the land will open or not, but we go trusting in the Living God
Merle [Schulz] is away in the Far East at conventions now and away until our convention in January 4th to the 6th. Our visitors are to be Tatsuo from Japan, Ralph Joll, Indonesia, John McQuillan and Lloyd Morgan from Cambodia. The sisters are Winifred Craigs from Scotland and Elaine Liew [Yeo] from Malaysia and us three sisters from here. So we look forward to special days in the Lord's courts again.
Anong [Chattanont] will leave for the conventions in Singapore and Malaysia on the 10th December and return with the visitors on the Monday the 31st December. At the present, Anong and I are busy with the country visits which takes in 4 places now.
So happy to have Yong Yut back in the picture again. His wife passed away about two months ago and he is a very sad lonely man now and the other churches where he has tried to go have been telling him his wife has gone to hell as she didn't believe. So this has hurt him so much and he came down to Bangkok to our gospel mtg two weeks ago to talk to us about all of this sorrow in his heart. He is about three and a half hours north of Bangkok toward the Burma border. So we hope to visit him this week and have two mtgs if possible with him. He knows this is the right way from his experience some years ago. So we feel hopeful he will be restored to the faith. A very lovely man, very upright and honest so the Lord can work in a heart like this.
So just this today, as must be on my way out now. Bookings to be made for the visitors coming for our conventions
Thank you for your emails and letters over all these long years—really appreciate all your love and care.
Love and greetings in Him,
A sister, Hazel [Dixon]
