Probably other children in this family.  Jane married in 1893; this daughter was born in 1912, 19 years later.  By usual name order in Scotland, Jean and Peter would have been the 5th and 6th children born in the family.  There would be a Daniel and John, Janet and Elizabeth older than Jean and Peter.
