Alexander (Sandy) Scott. (1886-1968) He married Eva Scott (nee Idso, Iowa) and they preached in Italy after WW II ended. Sandy was from Scotland and went into the work in 1909. Reportedly, Sandy felt it was expedient to marry in order to reach more people with the gospel in Italy, and so he married Eva. His name is on Workers List for Italy in 1956. He labored in Scotland, USA and Canada. and also pioneered the work in Spain in 1933. Sandy wrote many of the hymns in Hymns Old & New as per hymn author booklet. Nos. 68, 73, 101, 127, 167, 188, 242, 245, 304, 323, 327, 335. (Re No. 245 this is sometimes mistaken for similar hymn by John Oxenham). He is buried near Chelan, Washington, USA. - Punke, Ernest & Finney
Ernst and Finney Punke. He was from Australia and went to Germany to preach. Both were workers who married while in the work in Germany. They had no children. - Tyson, Frank; Tom Patterson, etc
Frank Tyson pioneered West Texas with Ray Bonds in 1921 Mr. & Mrs. Albert (Emma) deGroot were married workers. - Elliott, Tom & Ellen
Tom & Ellen Elliott. Entered work in 1902. Shown on 1921 Staffordshire Worker Convention photograph as Nos. 16 & 168. Tom was nicknamed Tom the Baptist as he baptized numerous converts. The Elliotts sided with Ed Cooney in 1928 Division and left the original group. Tom died in 1930; Mrs. Elliott died April 16, 1966. Both passed away in England. - Beattie, Ralph, Rene & Jean

In 1942, during WW II George Walker wrote this 3 page letter to the US Selective Service Board in Philadelphia, PA. Page 1 of 3 The purpose was to help the selective service board properly classify the ministry re: military service. The result was that a clergy exemption from the US government for brother workers associated with the "Christian Conventions " was obtained. - Quick, Frank & Hilda
Frank & Hilda Quick (nee Vogt), 1970. Both were from Australia and married April 16, 1925. Preached in Australia and New Zealand. Frank was in the work in Victoria in 1917, left the work in mid-20s and later married Hilda. They entered the South Australian work as a pair in 1937 and preached in NZ until 1973. Willie Rankin Jamieson was born April 28, 1881, in Scotland and died Friday October 11, age 93. He entered the ministry in 1905 and worked until 1926 as an evangelist in Oregon and Manitoba, Canada. He was a missionary worker in China from 1926 to 1939 and in the Philippines from 1939 to 1945. He was one of several workers interned in Santo Tomas, Philippines. He returned to missionary work after his release from the Los Baños internment camp. After 1957, he resided in California where he succeeded Jack Carroll as Overseer of some of the Western USA Christian Convention Church (2x2s). He passed away October 11, 1974 and is buried at Pacific Crest Cemetery, Redondo Beach, CA. Funeral service for William Jamieson. Tom & Elizabeth (Pendreigh) Betty. She was a former worker with the Faith Mission and was from Scotland. She is listed on 1921 Staffordshire Worker Convention photograph as Nos. 73 and 101. Both entered work in 1905 and labored in U.K. and Ontario. Both were in the Work until they died. Tom died June 28, 1945 and is buried on Isle of Man. They had 3 sons: Moore, John and Ernest. - Beattie, Ralph & Rene
Ralph & Rene (nee Amy Constance Irene Lester) Beattie. They married April 2, 1907andprofessed around 1909. Entered work May 23, 1911, leaving behind an 18 mo. son Archie with Rene\'s brother Clyde Lester and wife. Another 3 children were born while they were in the work and moved around New Zealand with their parents. Preached in Australia, Tasmania & New Zealand. Rene Beattie wrote several hymns in Hymns Old & New. Ralph died in 1958. Rene died in 1969 and is buried at Stratford. - Betty, Tom & Elizabeth (Pendreigh)

In WW 2, several workers were interned at Santo Tomas, in Manila - Philipine Islands. They were Cecil Barrett, Leo Stancliff, Herman Beaber and Willie Jamieson. This photo was taken soon after liberation from Los Banos (Santo Tomas) on February 23, 1945. FREE AND HAPPY! Photo taken during WWI in Saskatchewan Canada, about 1917. During WWI there was no "consciencious objector" status in Canada. Eventually they were given non-combatant jobs. Everyone in this picture was professing or closely associated. Because of their faith, they refused to bear arms and most were locked up in the Regina Saskatchewan jail together. Joe and Grace Brown were workers when they married around 1926. Joseph (Joe) Brown was born January 27, 1887 in Carnteel, Tyrone, N. Ireland and died March 1978 in Oregon. He labored 1906 to 1978, British Isles, Quebec, Italy, New Brunswick, Ontario, Washington, Hawaii, Oregon. Kathryn Grace (Prideaux) Brown was born June 15, 1884 in Victoria, Australia and died March 9, 1996 in Oregon. She labored 1914 to 1976 in Victoria, Hawaii, Oregon - Hanson, Henry & Edith
Henry Hanson and his sister Edith Hanson. Edith Hanson and Alma Lee were arrested in Norway Oct. 14, 1942, and were interned in Norway and Germany. They were released in 1945. Edith preached in Sweden, Norway & Finland. She died December, 1965 at the age of 75, and is buried in Boring, Oregon USA. Tom & Shirley Dennison, a married worker couple Dennison, Thomas "Tom" Hugh & Shirley Ann (nee Jesiek) Tom was born April 8, 1890 in Borrisokane, Co. Tipperary, Ireland. He came to US in 1921 On 1921 Staffordshire Worker Convention picture as #33 On July 9, 1923, in Cook Co., Illinois, Tom left the work and married school teacher, Shirley, born August 13, 1904 in Michigan. They returned to work as a married couple. No Children. On 1936 and 1947 Workers List in Tennessee; On 1971-71 and 1973-74 Georgia lists Deceased: Tom on Dec. 6, 1976, aged 86; Shirley on July 5, 1982, aged 77 - 1. White Slave Traffic

Black Sister Workers - Beaber, Herman and Blanche
Herman Beaber was interned at Santa Tomas during WW II along with several other workers. After his release, Herman returned to preach in the Philippines, but left the work in 1951 for health reasons. After he left the ministry, he married Blanche Berry from Henderson, Texas, on December, 1955. They adopted a daughter, Esther in 1962, age 11; and a son, John, in 1964, age 8. Herman died February 5, 2001, aged 93 and is buried in Dallas, Texas at Laurel Land Cemetery. - Barrett, Cecil
Cecil Barrett was born in New Zealand in 1902, went into the ministry in 1934 and continued in that work until his death in Japan on Nov. 6, 1968. He was interned at Santo Tomas during WW II along with several lother workers. Reportedly, after his release in February 23, 1945, he returned to New Zealand to recuperate and then continued as a missionary in the Far East. Bill, Maggie & Daughter May Carroll. Bill entered the work in 1903 (nee Hastings) Ireland; Australia. Both are listed on 1921 Staffordshire Worker Convention photograph as No. 91 and Maggie is No. 142. Their daughter, May (Carroll) Schulz is No. 201 in the photo. She was born 1901. She later married Dolph Schulz, ex-worker Australia, and she wrote Hymn Nos. 279, 258, 195, 315. Margaret was last listed on Victoria Workers List in 1940. Bill died Nov. 12, 1953; Margaret died in 1944. - Stanley, Ernest with wife
Ernest Stanley and his wife after the war. After the war he continued in the work in Japan for a few years, at least until 1948. He married a Japanese lady, adopted a son and lived in Tokyo the rest of his life. Their home seemed to be the center of activities for the work in Japan until his death in Tokyo in 1990. He was credited with being very helpful to the American civilian internees during the Los Banos, Philippines interment. He appears in Clio Mathews Wetmore's book entitled "Beyond Pearl Harbor" (1998) as one of the unsung heroes of Santo Tomas. - Christie, Dave & Emily

Al and Emma deGroot preached in Missouri, Arkansas, Iowa. She had a Scottish or Irish brogue. They were a married couple and on 1926-27 List in Missouri & Arkansas. Also were on 1947 Workers List. Emma died in 1968; Al died in 1960. - Christie, Dave & Emily
