Alec was born in Scotland and immigrated to New Zealand,
professed in 1921 and went in the Work in 1922.
After a year in Victoria, Australia he went to Sri Lanka (then known as Ceylon)
along with Jack Trigg in 1927 and then to Singapore
in 1936 where he spent the rest of his days in the Work.
He was interned by the Japanese in Changi Camp from 1942 to 1945
along with Arthur Shearer, Archie Wilson and Bert Cameron.
He was Overseer of Singapore, Malaysia, Borneo, Thailand
and Vietnam until 1974 when his memory failed.
He then returned to NZ where he died in 1980 aged 84.
